Social Media Predictions For 2019
1. Social Media Predictions From Jenn Herman
During episode 170 of Social Chatter, your weekly social media marketing talk show, we talked with Jenn Herman from Jenn's Trends about her social media predictions for 2019.
Here are Jenn Herman's social media predictions for 2019, along with her favorite tool.
Instagram Horizontal Scrolling
In 2019, Jenn Herman predicts that we will see a horizontal scrolling Instagram feed.
While Instagram accidentally released this today, it was met with a lot of criticism. Here's a look at how Instagram horizontal scrolling works.
As Instagram evolves the platform, they need to find ways to allow more content and at the same time, add more features. a horizontal Instagram feed would allow that (along with opportunities for more ads).
During this week's show, Jenn also recommended the following tool.
Wave Video
Wave Video (web) is an easy, yet powerful video tool for making video ads and social videos.
You can quickly create videos for all aspect ratios at once.
Here's a quick video showing you how easy it is to use Wave Video to create professional looking videos in minutes.
Wave Video starts at $39 per month. You can sign-up for free using the following link.

Instagram API For Live Video
Next up, we had Ross Brand from Livestream Universe on to make his social media predictions for 2019.
He made a bold prediction that in the next 1-2 months, we will see the Instagram API support live video.
What this means is that you'll be able to use many third-party tools to go live on Instagram.
This will open the doors to a host of new features for Instagram Live video and help add to your existing shows by adding new elements to engage with your viewers.
Will this social media prediction come true in 2019? We'll see.
During the show, Ross also mentioned the following tool for small business owners.
Screenflow
Screenflow (Mac) is a powerful screen recording tool as well as a video editor.
Screenflow is a tool that we use quite often at Social Chefs.
It works great for recording your screen for a training or tutorial.
You can also quickly create high-quality animated GIFs to show your customers how to do something.
Screenflow is a Mac-only application and it costs $129.
You can download it from the following link.

Next, we had Mike Alton on from Blogging Bruite, to talk about his social media predictions for 2019.
Here are Mike Alton's social media predictions for 2019, along with his favorite social media tool.
Multi-Person LinkedIn Video
In 2019, Mike Alton is predicting that we will see multi-person LinkedIn video.
LinkedIn is owned by Microsoft, who also owns Skype. With LinkedIn finally getting some wind behind its sails, we can expect to see a lot from LinkedIn in 2019.
Do you think Mike Alton's social media predictions for 2019 will come true? Let us know in the comments below.
Mike also mentioned the following social media tool during the show, which we covered back on episode 139.
Agorapulse
Agorapulse (web) is a social media tool that we have highlighted during other episodes of our weekly social media marketing talk show..
We use it to help spread content, but also to keep on-top of discussions that are happening on our platforms.
Mike was previously a Brand Evangelist for Hootsuite. He has since moved on to become the Brand Evangelist for Agorapulse.
We love Mike's recommendation because Agorapulse is a tool that can help small businesses keep-up with conversations, but also engage. No more having to bounce between different accounts, everything is contained within their easy-to-use dashboard.
Agorapulse starts at $39 for an annual plan.
You can try it out for free for 14 day using the following link.
Manage your social media channels in less time4. Social Media Predictions From Anh Nguyen
Next, we had Anh Nguyen from Ampligied Marketing on to talk about her social media predictions in 2019.
Here are Anh's social media predictions for 2019, along with her favorite tool for small business owners.
LinkedIn Live Video
While nearly every social media platform offers live video, one that doesn't yet is LinkedIn. That is why Anh is suggesting that in 2019, we will finally see LinkedIn Live video.
By adding LinkedIn live video, it will bring LinkedIn on-par with all of the other social media platforms and continue to allow them to build momentum from 2018.
In addition to her social media prediction, Anh also suggested the following tool for businesses.
Canva
Canva (web) is a tool to help your business quickly create beautiful graphics for your social media channels, blog and more.
You can also use Canva to create images for Facebook and Instagram Ads and much more.
If you don't want to hire a graphic designer, Canva offers thousands of pre-built templates and access to stock images (many for free).
You can quickly create images, presentations, flyers and more for your small business and save yourself time and money.
Canva is available for free. You can sign-up for their Canva at Work program if you want to standardize your logo and brand colors and collaborate with others.
Create beautiful social media graphics in less time5. Social Media Predictions From Christian Karasiewicz
LinkedIn Ads
In 2019, my (Christian Karasiewicz) social media prediction is that we will see a push for more users to create LinkedIn Ads.
While LinkedIn Ads are already available, they're expensive and the interface isn't as intuitive.
With LinkedIn making great strides in 2018 to improve their platform, more and more people and companies, will return to LinkedIn.
As more and more content is shared, they are going to need to find a way to help those people get their content in-front of the right audience.
As a result, the LinkedIn Ads interface will become easier to use and offer a host of ad options to reach users on the platform.
During the show, I also recommended the following tool.
Pretty Links
Pretty Links (web) is WordPress tool to help you create branded short urls to your content.
For example, if you look at the bottom of every social media marketing talk show graphic, you will see a Pretty Links URL.
When you enter this, it will direct you back to the longer blog post.
By using Pretty Links to create branded short urls, we can also use these during podcasts, videos and more.
This makes it easier for viewers to then get to our content.
The Pretty Links dashboard also shows you analytics for the URLs you create. This way you can see how each one is performing.
Here is a look at the Pretty Links dashboard.
Pretty Links starts at $59 per year right now - it is normally $110 per year.
You can start creating your own custom branded short URLs from the link below.
Create branded, trackable short URLs for your business6. Social Media Predictions From Phil Gerbyshak
Video For LinkedIn Company Pages
Phil Gerbyshak made the following social media prediction for 2019 - we will see video on LinkedIn company pages.
Phil is an ardent supporter of LinkedIn and often talked about it on the show.
Next year, he is suggesting that we will see video finally come to LinkedIn company pages because LinkedIn is a recruiting tool and what better way to do that than through video?
During the show, Phil also recommended the following tool.
Otter Voice Notes
Otter Voice Notes (iOS).
We love Otter Voice Notes. In fact, we covered it back on episode 154.
It can be extremely useful for businesses.
You can use Otter Voice Notes to create a transcript for your videos, transcribe audio into searchable notes, and finally make your voice notes searchable.
Otter AI is available for iOS and Android. You get 600 minutes for free. Prices then start at $9.99 per month of $79.99 for the year.
Transcribe your audio and video content and make it searchable7. Social Media Predictions From Alex Abell
