Social Chatter: Social Media Marketing Talk Show - Episode 196
Facebook Calibra, A New Digital Currency
In Facebook news, they are launching Facebook Calibra in 2020.
According to Facebook, Facebook Calibra is "a newly formed Facebook subsidiary whose goal is to provide financial services that will let people access and participate in the Libra network. The first product Calibra will introduce is a digital wallet for Libra, a new global currency powered by blockchain technology."
"Calibra will let you send Libra to almost anyone with a smartphone, as easily and instantly as you might send a text message and at low to no cost. And, in time, we hope to offer additional services for people and businesses, like paying bills with the push of a button, buying a cup of coffee with the scan of a code or riding your local public transit without needing to carry cash or a metro pass."
Here's a look at how Calibra will work.
Why Facebook Calibra Matters For Your Business
With Facebook Calibra, you'll have a digital wallet that can securely protect your money. Your account and financial data will also not be used for ad targeting on the Facebook platform.
As a business, Facebook Calibra might become the primary means with which your business transacts with customers using blockchain technology.
It's not slated to launch until 2020. In the meantime, you can read more about Facebook Calibra here.
Facebook Stories Tagging
Also in Facebook news, they are rolling out Facebook Stories tagging.
With Stories tagging, when you tag someone in Instagram Stories and then share it to Facebook as a Story, it can link to your Page.
Why Facebook Stories Tagging Matters For Your Business
It can be difficult to keep up with all of the different social media platforms. By adding Facebook Stories tagging, you can quickly broaden your reach and exposure.
This will also help take the guesswork out of wondering who tagged your business on Instagram - maybe you missed seeing it.
If you decide you don't want automatic Facebook Stories Tagging, you'll be able to turn this off within your Settings menu.
You can read more about the Facebook Study app here.
Facebook Page Information Being Removed
This week, we learned about Facebook Page changes in 2019.
Facebook is removing a host of fields on your Facebook Page. These include company overview, biography, affiliation, mission, personal interests and more.
Starting August 1, 2019, you'll start to see these fields (that are listed under the about section of your Page, removed.
Why Removing Facebook Page Fields Matters For Your Business
The goods news is that the fields that Facebook is removing from Pages in August, 2019, won't impact your Page listing. It also means less information that you'll have to fill out for your Page.
While there isn't a complete list of the fields that will be removed, Facebook has been known to clean-up Pages. Now that you'll have less to complete, it might be a good time to go back in and edit your Facebook Page information, which you can find under Settings > Page Info, and update the remaining fields or see if there are any new ones.

Facebook Public Comments Becoming More Meaningful
Also in Facebook news, they are making public comments more meaningful.
Facebook is working on changing how public comments are seen. To do this, they are updating comment ranking on public posts.
They will be looking at areas such as integrity signals, survey responses from Facebook users, how people interact with comments, through reactions, replies and more.
According to Facebook, they'll start showing comments on public posts more prominently when the following happens, "the comments have interactions from the Page or person who originally posted;" or "if the comments or reactions are from friends of the person who posted."
Why Changes To Facebook Public Comments Matter For Your Business
Facebook is once again, encouraging interactions with users and Pages in order to help surface better quality public comments. As a business, once way you can take advantage of this pending change, is to engage more on Facebook. A lot of times, we're consumers. Instead, we should look at engaging more and as a good friend, Jessika Phillips, suggests, build relationships with customers. This can help you increase your network, but also expose you to other people you may never had met.
You can read more about changes to Facebook public comments here.
Pinterest Complete The Look
In Pinterest news, they are rolling out Pinterest complete the look.
The Pinterest complete the look feature is a scene-based recommendations system. Sometimes you don't know how to describe something. With "complete the look," it creates a visual discovery engine to help find recommendations using "rich scene context."
Why Pinterest Complete The Look Matters For Your Business
Pinterest Complete the Look can help you surface similar content. At the same time, if your customers are trying to find something, somethings they don't know which keywords to use.
By adding visual search, this should help surface content for your customers related to items they are looking for.
