Social Chatter: Social Media Marketing Talk Show - Episode 207 New Facebook Messenger Business Tools In Facebook news, they are rolling out Facebook Messenger business tools. Facebook Messenger business tools include appointment booking, Messenger templates, event reporting and more. For starters, Facebook is phasing out the Discover tab in Messenger (over the next few months). It is being replaced by a host of Facebook Messenger business tools. these include: Messenger templates to help you qualify your leads in Messenger, appointment booking, and event reporting to help you track Messenger conversations. Why New Facebook Messenger Business Tools Matter tFor Your Business This collection of Facebook Messenger business tools can be useful across various industries. If you've been looking for a way to let customers book appointments, they'll now be able to do that using the appointment scheduler. This feature also works with a host of popular applications for managing your calendar. Other types of businesses that rely on lead generation, should find the new Messenger templates useful, as they can help you qualify leads in Messenger and even integrate with your existing CRM tools to help you track your leads. These new Facebook Messenger business tools should begin to roll out over the next several months. In the meantime, you can read more about new Facebook Messenger business tools here. Hiding Facebook Likes Also in Facebook news, they are testing hiding Facebook likes. Facebook is already testing hiding Instagram likes. Should Facebook hide the like count from News Feed? Why Hiding Facebook Like Counts Matter For Your Business We're a fan of hiding the Facebook like count from posts. This information should only be visible to the owner or Facebook Page Admin. It's really no different from website analytics. The current process is one that many influencers use to their advantage through overinflated numbers. By removing the like count, it would encourage more of a focus on engagement - comments, sharing, etc. Likes are an artificial number, one that can be easily increased. Most companies won't spend the time going through them to see how valid the accounts are and what kind of impact that they have. While Facebook is only testing hiding the like count, we would love to see a dashboard that a user could share with a company they are working with that would show their real-time analytics - no more false social media metrics! The fact that they are testing hiding likes on Instagram and Facebook suggests that this may come to fruition in the near future. In the meantime, keep focusing on creating meaningful content that your audience is interested in and engages with. You can read more about Facebook testing hiding likes here. Instagram Testing IGTV Syndication To Facebook Watch In Instagram news, they are testing IGTV syndication to Facebook. What this means is that Instagram is working on creating a feature to allow you to syndicate or share your content from IGTV to Facebook Watch. Instagram is working on IGTV Series pic.twitter.com/SLOWCnicLJ — Jane Manchun Wong (@wongmjane) August 28, 2019 By adding syndication, it increases your chances of bringing in viewers - whether from Instagram, IGTV, Facebook Watch and so on. In addition to this feature, IGTV is also adding improvements to help creators. These include: the ability to select 1:1 cropping of an IGTV thumbnail, editing the 5:4 section of the IGTV video that shows in the Feed, as well as auto-populating Instagram handles and tags on IGTV titles and descriptions. They're also increasing the minimum threshold for uploading to IGTV from mobile to one minute up to 15 minutes of video. Why IGTV Syndication Matters For Your Business By adding IGTV syndication, it can help your business reach more of your followers across different platforms. While you should be focusing on the platforms where your audience spends most of their time, it's good to syndicate your content at times to help broaden your exposure to try and reach others who are not familiar with your channel or the content that you provide. While IGTV syndication is being tested, it's good to see IGTV improve the upload process and help automate parts of filling out the details of your IGTV video content. This can help save your business time filling out the details for your IGTV broadcast. At the same time, by offering a one minute threshold, this encourages users to post longer, better quality content for the IGTV platform. You can read more about IGTV syndication here.
