Each episode of Social Chatter is available as a blog post or video. Let’s see what’s cooking in social media this week with your hosts, Christian Karasiewicz and Vincent Orleck! Watch This Week’s Social Media Updates Facebook Launches Facebook Canvas for Businesses This week, Facebook announced Facebook Canvas. Facebook Canvas is a tool for businesses to create an immersive experience “to tell their stories and showcase their products.” This is done using videos, images and call-to-action buttons. Target, Wendy’s and BMW are among some of the brands currently using Facebook Canvas. Periscope on Twitter Also this week, Twitter announced Periscope broadcasts would now be live on Twitter. This means instead of having to use two different apps - one to view your Twitter stream and another to use Periscope, you’ll be able to see Periscope broadcasts when you’re browsing through your Twitter feed. This way you can build a richer experience on Twitter. Here’s an example of what a Persiscope stream looks like on Twitter. Periscope broadcasts now come alive within Twitter https://amp.twimg.com/v/4c29eb00-728b-488e-8e6d-9782e686d2db — Periscope (@periscopeco) January 12, 2016 Peach, A New Social Networking App Peach is “a fun, simple way to keep up with friends and be yourself." Even more notable, it’s a new social networking app created by Dom Hofmann, a co-founder of Vine. As with all new social networks, it is important to spend a few minutes evaluating them to see if one holds more value for your business over another one you’re using. Remember, you don’t need to be on every social network. Otherwise, you could find yourself overwhelmed, which could keep you from getting anything done on your businesses social media channels. Download Peach Tools In addition to sharing the latest in social media news from this past week, we also highlighted some great tools and apps to check out. Quuu Promote Quuu is a content suggestion tool for your social media channels. Last week, we mentioned Quuu. This week, we wanted to highlight another tool from them called Quuu Promote. Quuu Promote is a tool to have your articles shared with "thousands of Quuu influencers across Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. By promoting your content through Quuu Promote, you can better connect with relevant influencers rather than using paid advertising. Try Quuu Promote Peach Peach is a new social network. According to Peach, it’s a “fun and simple way to keep up with friends and be yourself” and “posting is as easy as texting.” We’ve been testing out this new social network and it’s pretty refreshing. If you haven’t had a chance to try out Peach, it’s a free download. Once you’ve downloaded the app, review this guide to get started. Download Peach Byword We often get a lot of questions from business owners asking us how we consistently find time to write and publish blog posts. The tool we’ve been using for over a year is Byword. It’s a no-frills editor that allows you to write in markdown. This way we eliminate any clutter during the writing process. What makes this process work so well isn’t just being able to write in markdown (that saves a lot of time). We also use the Byword mobile app. Together, we can start writing a post on our laptop anytime we get a new idea. When we’re away from our computer, we can launch the app on our mobile device and add new ideas. In little time, we’ll have a finished blog post that we can publish directly to WordPress. We also use this to jot down ideas for social media posts for Facebook or Twitter or to write-up YouTube video descriptions. Download Byword Wrap-up That’s it for this week’s episode of Social Chatter. Be sure to tune-in to our next episode on Blab to find out what’s cooking in social media! If you have any questions about anything mentioned this week, share them with us on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or in the comments below. Christy | MakeMeAHarp 15 Jan 2016 500 characters MAX just because of the space the GIFs and links take up
Social Chefs 15 Jan 2016 @MakeMeAHarp 10,000 characters is a lot. I wonder why they would start that high.
Christy | MakeMeAHarp 15 Jan 2016 @VincentOrleck Right?? I help manage several big ones a week with BTC and I already have swimming eyes when our hours are up! I couldn’t even imagine with that much to read through.
Social Chefs 15 Jan 2016 @MakeMeAHarp that would need to be automated somehow. There’s not enough time to review that much information.
Christy | MakeMeAHarp 15 Jan 2016 @socialchefs Exactly! We, maybe, schedule 1-2 posts for FB pages per account per day. Everything else is ALL organic
Social Chefs 15 Jan 2016 @MakeMeAHarp I don;t think the number of years matters. How much is there room for confusion? The challenge with getting verified is that everyone wants a verified account, but don’t necessarily need one.
Christy | MakeMeAHarp 15 Jan 2016 One of our major brands has been in business for over 60 years and they still can’t get verified on Twitter. We’ve been trying for 3+ years!!!
Kevin Mullett 15 Jan 2016 @Wgp7110 I would NEVER suggest relying on a third party for your brands success. Own your property, while using others.
Social Chefs 15 Jan 2016 @MakeMeAHarp I wouldn’t just say it’s just Twitter. Facebook and many other networks don;t let you know how to get verified or what the criteria is to get verified.
Social Chefs 15 Jan 2016 Facebook also just added the new layout for notes to pages so there’s even more reason to be blogging/publishing content on Facebook. Here’s a rundown. https://www.socialchefs.com/facebook-notes-for-facebook-pages-ultimate-guide/
Social Chefs 15 Jan 2016 @VincentOrleck there’s a lot of potential with it. I’ve been saying this for the past few months. Facebook, Twitter, etc they want you to stay on their site. They’re creating their own tools to keep you on their platform.Periscope, Facebook Notes, native video, etc.
Christy | MakeMeAHarp 15 Jan 2016 @VincentOrleck Can’t wait to see what rolls out at Convention!! Already registered.
Christy | MakeMeAHarp 15 Jan 2016 @VincentOrleck I know… can’t wait!! I might be there for 10days… IT’S VEGAS!!!!
Barb Tomlin 15 Jan 2016 Stelzner and Kim Reynolds covered Peach this morning. Kim loved it; Stelzner is holding back.
Barb Tomlin 15 Jan 2016 Stelzner & Reynolds concluded not for biz but Kim loves for social entertainment
Barb Tomlin 15 Jan 2016 @VincentOrleck Yes, Mike has “wait & see” reputation. His attitude is typically on biz
Social Chefs 15 Jan 2016 @BarbTUSA there’s potential. I would recommend getting familiar with it. Give it a little time to evolve and then revisit it.
Christy | MakeMeAHarp 15 Jan 2016 @socialchefs I will wait for all the EXPERTS to sell me courses to learn how to use it.
Barb Tomlin 15 Jan 2016 @socialchefs Not worth my time until Android ready – more interested in move sleeping giant Microsoft made with Skype in past few days.
Christy | MakeMeAHarp 15 Jan 2016 @Bleedsbigblue Love the name! Reminds me of my friend Rob’s blog: @BleednYankeeBlu!!
Christy | MakeMeAHarp 15 Jan 2016 @Bleedsbigblue He tags my personal account @ChristyMartin all the time. He always has the greatest articles & often hears news before networks!!
Barb Tomlin 15 Jan 2016 @socialchefs Chris, that was Stelzner’s take – both platforms and functionality
Christy | MakeMeAHarp 15 Jan 2016 @imdad_85 Thank you for the offer. It’s my second social proposal of 2016. But sadly, I’ll have to decline.

Christy | MakeMeAHarp 15 Jan 2016 I use MacJournal’s feature that lets you write in Markdown without the clutter.
Social Chefs 15 Jan 2016 @MakeMeAHarp they’re stored in the cloud. You can then organize them within your Cloud Drive.
Christy | MakeMeAHarp 15 Jan 2016 @socialchefs That’s a cool feature. MacJournal functions much like Evernote which can be good and bad
Christy | MakeMeAHarp 15 Jan 2016 <=== I already spent my $40 bucks. It's going to take FREE for me to switch!! LOL
Social Chefs 15 Jan 2016 @MakeMeAHarp thank you for joining and for telling everyone about Macjournal!
