Social Chatter: Social Media Marketing Talk Show - Episode 187
Facebook Ad Library Updates (Formerly Facebook Ad Archive)
In Facebook news, they are updating the Facebook ad library.
The Facebook Ad library (previously called ad archive), can help you learn more about ads related to politics or issues on Facebook or Instagram.
Here's a look at what you can do using the Facebook ad library.
- Bringing in all active ads any Page is running — not just ads related to politics or issues — creating one place to see ads on Facebook. This was previously only visible on a Page in the Info and Ads section.
- Adding more information about Pages in the Ad Library, including:
- Page creation date, previous Page merges, and name changes.
- Primary country location of people who manage a Page, provided it has a large audience, or runs ads related to politics or issues in select countries.
- Advertiser spend information for ads related to politics or issues where the Ad Library Report is currently available. This includes all-time spend and spend over the last week, which was previously only available in the Ad Library Report.
- Improved search in the Ad Library. Past user searches will be saved for people logged in to Facebook, and people can now search by Page, not just keywords.
- The ability to report ads from within the Ad Library.
Why Facebook Ad Library Updates Matter For Your Business
The Facebook ad library (as seen below), can help you search for Facebook Ads from up to seven years ago. It also increases transparency on Facebook.
For example, Facebook Pages, will also be getting a new feature.
A new section called "Page Transparency" will show the date when the page was created, previous Page merges, name changes and primary country location (for some Pages).
If your business needs some examples of the types of Facebook Ads that others are running, the Facebook ad library is a great tool to help you with this.
You can access the Facebook ad library here.

In Testing: Facebook Stories And News Feed Content
Also in Facebook News, they are testing Facebook Stories and News Feed content.
With Facebook pushing into Facebook Stories, it may be difficult to migrate users away from News Feed.
To do this, Facebook is testing out content that contains both Facebook Stories and News Feed content.
Why Combining Facebook Stories And News Feed Content Matters For Your Business
Facebook wants its users to publish more Stories. Right now though, not a lot of people are using Facebook Stories - either because they don't know what to share or how to publish to Stories.
In an effort to encourage more Stories content, Facebook is combining Stories and News Feed content in a potentially new view.
This is good news for you because Facebook isn't just changing the content. Instead, they're blending it together.
You can start to get an idea about this new combined content.
If you need help with coming up with Facebook Stories content, don't be afraid to look at what others are sharing or to research your competitors or others in your industry to see what they're adding to Stories.
Don't forget to look at the content they publish on their Page and in News Feed either. This can help give your business some ideas as Facebook continues to move towards sharing more Stories and less News Feed content.

LinkedIn Ad Targeting Audiences
In LinkedIn news, they are launching LinkedIn ad targeting audiences.
These include lookalike audiences, audience templates, and interest targeting.
Why LinkedIn Ad Targeting Audiences Matter For Your Business
LinkedIn is launching three new types of LinkedIn ad targeting audiences. These new options will help you easily target more of the right audiences from LinkedIn.
These include: lookalike audiences, audience templates, and Microsoft Bing search data for interest targeting.
While running LinkedIn Ads will cost more than Facebook Ads, you can get better targeting when running your ads.
For example, by using LinkedIn lookalike audiences, you can identify similar audiences to your existing audiences that might be interested in your content. This way you can target a warm audience as opposed to trying to target someone who is just learning about your business for the first time.
We're excited about the possibilities with new LinkedIn ad targeting audiences.

Also in LinkedIn news, they are testing the ability to share a document on LinkedIn mobile.

Why Sharing Documents On LinkedIn Mobile Matters For Your Business
LinkedIn is testing out the ability to share a document from LinkedIn mobile.
This is good news if you primarily use your mobile device for business.
For the longest time, LinkedIn didn't support a lot of features from mobile. Things have changed though.
While we don't primarily use LinkedIn mobile for sharing documents - there are plenty of other options such as Dropbox, Google Drive and more to choose from.
Overall, this would be a great addition for LinkedIn mobile users. This way you won't have to wait to get back to a computer to send a document. Instead, it would be available in the cloud for you to share via LinkedIn mobile.
The ability to share a document on LinkedIn mobile is being tested. We'll let you know if it is ever released.
In Testing: Hide Twitter Replies
In Twitter news, they are testing a way to hide Twitter replies.
Twitter is testing replies moderation. It lets you to hide replies under your tweets, while providing an option to show the hidden replies pic.twitter.com/dE19w4TLtp
— Jane Manchun Wong (@wongmjane) February 28, 2019
This means you'll be able to hide Twitter replies under your tweets.
You can also choose to show replies that have been hidden.
Why Hiding Twitter Replies Matters For Your Business
By adding the ability to hide Twitter replies, this would make it easier for you to keep your tweets and replies positive.
For example, when you hide a Twitter reply, people will still be able to see them as opposed to using the block, mute or report option, which might not be applicable to the situation.
By adding a way to hide replies to tweets, you can clean-up your Twitter conversation, while giving you more flexibility to how you do that.

New Pinterest Conversion Tools For Ads
In Pinterest news, they are rolling out new Pinterest conversion tools for Pinterest Ads.
With Pinterest conversion tools, advertisers can now define their conversion goals with much greater accuracy.
According to Pinterest, "conversion optimization is a new campaign type that optimizes Promoted Pins for specific consumer actions, rather than just clicks. For the first time, advertisers can choose conversions as a campaign objective and inspire people to take specific actions like online checkouts, increased signups or stronger leads."
This means your Pinterest ads can reach people "who are more likely to take the business' desired action."
Why Pinterest Conversion Tools Matter For Your Business
By focusing on conversion goals and using Pinterest conversion tools, you'll be able to more quickly reach your goals faster - with less effort on your part.
This way you can create your Pinterest ads and let them run for you - keeping your conversion goals in mind.

A Fake Instagram Verification Service
In Instagram news, Instagram influencers are being cheated with a fake Instagram verification service.
Have you wanted to learn how to get verified on Instagram?
While there are plenty of tutorials out there, many of them don't work.
Unfortunately, there's another issue taking place - Instagram accounts getting cheated out of verification with a fake verification service.
Some Instagram users are seeing this Instagram Story saying they can get Instagram verified.
Why Fake Instagram Verification Services Matter For Your Business
While having a verified account on Instagram adds credibility, it won't guarantee that you'll start making sales or accumulating large amounts of followers for your Instagram business account.
Instagram of focusing on getting verified on Instagram, you should focus on improving your marketing and your Instagram strategy. Basically, get people to take notice.
Remember, anything that seems too good to be true likely is. In this case, they're asking for crypto-currency and Amazon gift cards, two signs that this is likely not a valid service.
If you decide to try out these services, consider using a credit card or another service that you can at least file a chargeback or have fraud prevention.
