Let's see what's new in social media this week with, Christian Karasiewicz, Sara Munro, and guest, Amy Airom. Social Chatter: Social Media Marketing Talk Show - Episode 287 Hotline App From Facebook, A Clubhouse and Instagram Live Mashup This week, we have the Hotline App from Facebook. The Hotline app from Facebook is a cross between Clubhouse and Instagram Live. What makes this Clubhouse alternative different is that creators can speak to their audience over audio or video. Their audience can ask questions over text or audio. Creators can enable their cameras as well. This combination helps to set the Hotline app apart from Clubhouse and Twitter Spaces. #Facebook is working on a @joinClubhouse and #Instagram Live mashup, called Hotline App. We're loving this idea! As a business owner, sometimes you want your audience to be able to see you. This can be a way to drive a deeper connection with them. Alternatively, this helps your audience still be able to connect with you, because they cam submit Q&A's via text or audio. Sometimes people are not comfortable with video or even audio. Text is a nice next step. Keep in mind that Hotline App isn't available to everyone yet. You can join the waitlist using your Twitter account and a valid phone number. Other Social Media News Mentioned Here are some additional social media news topics that we covered on our weekly live social media marketing talk show that are worth checking out. Clubhouse for Android is in testing. Reddit is working on audio-only rooms. Canva launches presentation suite products. Are Apps Like Hotline App or Clubhouse Right For Your Business? This week, we talked with Amy Airom about Hotline app and audio-only rooms. Here are the tips that she shared. What are some strategies that can help a business figure out if Hotline app, Clubhouse or Twitter Spaces is the place to spend your time? Is your audience there? Does the platform align with your initiatives? Be intentional when testing out the product. Test out a product. Amy recommends trying out Hotline app for around 2-3 months. Can you share some ways to promote or market your audio-only rooms? Promote your rooms where you already have a presence. Use your existing network to bring your audience in, to help with cross promotion. Notify your email list when you make a shift in your business. Tools Plexicam The first tool that we have for you this week is Plexicam. Do you find it difficult to maintain eye contact when live streaming or joining Zoom video calls? A majority of the time, this happens because of where you have your camera placed. For example, your webcam is too low on your desk. Alternatively, you don't have the right camera mount for your DSLR, so you're often looking up at the camera or down, but not into the camera. With the Plexicam, you get a transparent camera mount, that also serves as a teleprompter alternative. This will allow you to position your camera so that you can make eye contact with your viewers. Here is a look at how the Plexicam works. Do you struggle with making eye-contact with your audience when #livestreaming? Here's a fantastic solution for your webcam or DSLR from @PlexiCam, so that you can look directly at your live viewers. #LiveStreamingTips https://t.co/mkCYBG0CVT pic.twitter.com/B4TBE0rC3t — Social Chefs (@socialchefs) April 12, 2021 The Plexicam comes in multiple sizes depending on what you need. Prices start at $45, for this portable camera mount solution. Make better eye contact with your audience Photo Unblur The second tool that we have for you this week is Photo Unblur. Do you need to blur parts of a photo? For example, maybe you need to hide an address, blur someone's face, etc? With Photo Unblur, you can quickly blur photos on your iPhone or iPad in seconds. Want to quickly blur parts of a photo? Be sure to check out Photo Unblur, a #free app for iPhone and iPad, to quickly blur your pics and more. https://t.co/9feuAlPvaB pic.twitter.com/41NcpdfdBJ — Social Chefs (@socialchefs) April 12, 2021 Photo Unblur is a freemium app, that runs $5 per week or less depending on your usage needs.
