Social Chatter: Social Media Marketing Talk Show - Episode 318 Instagram Reels Text-to-Speech and Voice Effects, How to Create Engaging Short Videos This week, we're talking about Instagram Reels text-to-speech and voice effects. While TikTok has offered text-to-speech, Instagram has not. In an effort to compete with TikTok, Instagram Reels is now adding the ability to add text-to-speech and voice effects when creating short videos. Text-to-speech and voice effects are two features that are already popular on TikTok. With Instagram Reels text-to-speech, this is primarily an accessibility feature that can help blind and low-vision people understand written text. This feature, along with voice effects, are two new audio tools to help you make your Instagram Reels content more engaging. The fact that they're also increasing accessibility, helps Instagram to hopefully attract even more users to the platform because of this feature. #Instagram Reels is adding two new audio tools, text-to-speech and voice effects. https://t.co/FJIIj9Pglq#SocialChatter #SocialMedia #SocialMediaNews #InstagramNews #accessibility — Social Chefs (@socialchefs) November 19, 2021 What Are Instagram Reels Text-to-Speech and Voice Effects? Text-to-speech will add a text to speech voiceover when creating Instagram Reels content. This new feature will use an auto generated voice to read your text aloud. You can add narration without using your own voice. While it's not as exciting, you can still get creative with it. For example, some people will use it when they don't want to use their real voice since it uses an artificial one. If you want to modify audio and voiceover in Reels, consider experimenting with voice effects. Voice effects can help make your reels more creative. How to Add Instagram Reels Text-to-Speech Adding these two new audio tools to your Instagram Reels content is very easy. Just follow these steps. Open the Instagram app and launch the Reels camera. Record or upload a video. In the preview window, use the text tool to add text. A text bubble will appear. Tap the three-dot icon, add a text to speech voiceover. Right now, you can choose between voice 1, voice 2 or none. When you're finished, post your Instagram Reel. How to Add Voice Effects to Reels If you want to modify the audio and or voiceover in Reels, you'll want to use the voice effects feature. Here's how: Open the Reels camera Record a reel. Tap the music note to open the audio mixer. Tap effects and select a voice effect to modify the audio in your reel. Why Instagram Reels Text-to-Speech and Voice Effects Matter For Your Business If you are looking for another way to make your reels more exciting and accessible, consider using text-to-speech and voice effects. Your Instagram Reels can now be more on par with TikTok, so this could encourage TikTok users to follow you on IG with this new feature. For those of you who are not sure how you would incorporate them into your business, we suggest following some of your competitors to see how they are using Instagram Reels, and look for the text-to-speech feature. You might also consider following other popular Instagram accounts to see how they're using the reels text-to-speech and voice effects and then think creatively about how you might use it. Content Creation During Constant Change On this week’s show, we spoke with Agata Pawlak, a Social Media Manager at Cruz Creative Media and Co-Founder of the Agile Marketing Network. Here are tips she shared on creating content through times of constant platform changes, specifically for Instagram Reels and TikTok. How do you navigate constant changes in social media as you implement marketing plans? Be prepared for constant change. Have the right mindset. Adapt to and track changes. Move quickly, but be organized. What tools do you use to evaluate how or if you will use a social platform in order to reach target audience? There aren't any specific tools to use for this. The key one is yourself. Conduct research about your competitors. Look at what they’re doing. Spend time on social media. Play to your strengths. If someone doesn’t have a content plan, what are three things they can do today to start planning while they push out content? Create a plan. Start small. Organize. Break down the work into bite-sized pieces. This way it isn’t overwhelming. Create a system, with only a few pieces.
