Social Media News Updates
Mentorship For Facebook Groups
In Facebook news, they are rolling out Mentorship for Facebook Groups.
Why Mentorship For Facebook Groups Matters For Your Business
Facebook Groups that focus on parenting, professional or personal development can now create their own Mentorship program to help others.
Group Admins can create a Mentorship program within their group using a number of pre-existing templates. These include career advancement, skill development and so on.
Your Facebook Group members can sign-up for your program to be a mentor or mentee.
From there, they are introduced and progress through a guided program to help foster their development.
In an aim to protect privacy, only the pair that is part of the Facebook Mentorship for Facebook Groups program see their own communication.
As a business, we're excited about the new Mentorship for Facebook Groups feature and look forward to giving back to our members.
Here are some additional screenshots from Facebook about the new Mentorship program.

New Facebook Business Page Layout For Mobile
Facebook is redesigning Facebook Pages for mobile.
Why A New Facebook Business Page Layout For Mobile Matters For Your Business
Facebook wants to make it easier for you to reach local businesses on Facebook.
With that, they are releasing a new Facebook business page layout for mobile. For example, if you run a local restaurant, they're going to be adding new ways to book a reservation.
Maybe you run a hair salon? Customers can now quickly book appointments from your Facebook Page via the mobile app.
In addition, Facebook is adding a Stories section to Pages to help people learn more about the people behind the business.
Here is a look at the new Facebook business page layout for mobile.
Pages are also getting a new recommendations section so that other users can see who is recommending the business.
If you run a local business, look for these updates to your Facebook mobile app in your devices App Store.
As a business owner, also be prepared to think about the stories you could be showcasing from your customers on your Page.

Facebook Page Publishing Authorization Updates
Also this week, Facebook is updating Facebook Page publishing authorization.
Why Facebook Page Publishing Authorization Matters For Your Business
Facebook is making some additional improvements to Facebook Pages. These include a new publishing authorization feature.
If you manage a Facebook Page with a large US following, you will soon have a harder time administrating a Facebook Page. Facebook is doing this in order to crackdown on fake or compromised accounts.
If you manage a Facebook Page that meets these requirements, you will have to use two-factor authentication to secure your account (this is where Facebook sends you a code in order to use after you initially login).
You will also have to confirm your primary location where you login to Facebook from.
For those who don't complete the Page publishing authorization steps, you won't be able to access the Page or post to it until you do.
In addition to this update, Facebook is also going to show when a Facebook Page has merged - this will be under Page History.
They are also adding a new section to help you better manage your Facebook Page, titled "people who manage this page," which will show the locations where people are managing your Page from. This is only viewable by Page admins.
This update will impact you as a business because it will force you to make your Page compliant - using a real Profile to manage your Page instead of a fake one.
You will also now be able to better secure your Page should someone get access to it thanks to new two-factor authentication.

Facebook Shutting Down Friend List News Feed
Facebook is shutting down the Facebook friend list news feed.
Why Shutting Down the Facebook Friend List Feed Matters For Your Business
By the time you read this, Facebook will have shut down the friend list feed.
This feature was a great way for you to organize your friends, family and business associates into their own feed on Facebook.
With a little setup, you could go to your Facebook News Feed and quickly access a separate list of updates from just certain people that you want to see updates from. This made it easier to filter just updates from say business partners, instead of having to scroll the through your entire feed to find these updates.
Facebook is still going to keep friend lists around. They are just shutting down the Facebook friend list feed.
As a business, this could have saved you a lot of time. What you may want to consider doing now is to move towards creating groups of friends that you message. This way when you have new updates to share, you can share them in your main Facebook News Feed, but also quickly send them to a separate group of people who may want your personal or business updates.
You can read more about Facebook shutting down the friend list feed here.
WhatsApp Ads In Status Updates
In WhatsApp news, they are going to begin showing WhatsApp ads in status updates starting in 2019.
Why WhatsApp Ads In Status Updates Matter For Your Business
For the longest time, WhatsApp was ad-free. That is changing starting in 2019 when they will begin to show ads in between content shared by users.
The WhatsApp ads will be similar to what you already see when viewing Instagram and Facebook updates - they worked so well there, that WhatsApp is bringing them to their platform.
You won't start to see WhatsApp ads in status updates until 2019. Until then, your first step would be to begin to build a community via WhatsApp. For example, you can already create a WhatsApp Group and send out links or information to users this way - why not start with this approach so that you're familiar with how the platform works?
You can read more about WhatsApp ads appearing in status updates here.
