Facebook Launches Messenger 4
In Facebook news, they are rolling out Facebook Messenger 4.
These include easier navigation, chats tab, people tab, discover tab, as well as the ability to use custom colors for conversations, as well as dark mode.
Why Facebook Messenger 4 Matters For Your Business
One of the most useful new features for Facebook Messenger 4 are the new tabbed navigation.
Instead of nine tabs, they are consolidating them to just three.
You can access the people tab to find friends or active users. The discover tab will help you connect with new businesses. The chats tab will be your primary tab for communicating over Facebook Messenger.
In addition, the ability to assign customization that they call "color gradients" will help you set individual colors for specific chats. For example, you could mimic your own brand colors.
You can also use these to reflect your mood.
Lastly, the new dark mode that makes it easier to see Messenger 4 at different times of the day.
As a business owner, Facebook Messenger likely plays a big part to help you communicate with customers over Facebook. While these features aren't groundbreaking, they will help make it easier for you to use Facebook Messenger even more to stay connected with your customers.
To get the new Facebook Messenger 4 features, be sure to update your Facebook Messenger app from your devices app store.

The Facebook Ad Archive Report - For A Closer Look at Ads For U.S. Politics and Issues Of National Importance
Facebook launched the Facebook ad archive report.
The ad archive report is a report to help you "more easily find information such as the total number of ads and ad spend in the archive" for U.S. related politics and issues of national importance.
Why the Facebook Ad Report Archive Matters For Your Business
With the Facebook Ad archive report, you can search a database of Facebook ads. You will have access to seven years of ads related to politics and issues of national importance.
You can use this information to help with your own ads or use it to see which types of ads users are engaging with and try them out for your own business.
This information can also provide you with greater transparency on how U.S. politics are using Facebook ads.
You can read more about the Facebook Ad archive report here.
Facebook Inflating Video Metrics
Also in Facebook news, they have admitted to inflating video metrics.
The complaint alleges that Facebook inflated the average viewing times by 60-80%.
Why Inflated Facebook Video Metrics Matter For Your Business
The key takeaway here is that your business may have chosen to go with Facebook as your primary social media platform based off of metrics you had your team review.
When you see that the average viewing times on Facebook are longer compared to other social media channels, it makes you think that your business should put your effort into using their platform.
With inflated video metrics, you should still look at using Facebook, but compare engagement from your audience to determine the right platform to use.
We suggest checking out YouTube analytics versus Facebook metrics to see which place gives you the best opportunity to connect with the right customers.

New Ways To Shop On Pinterest
In Pinterest news, they are rolling out new features to help you shop on Pinterest.
These include product pins and shopping recommendations.
Here's a look at these two new ways to shop on Pinterest.
First up are product pins.
Product pins will now show you up-to-date pricing and stock information.
When you want to shop from Pinterest, you'll see a shopping tag icon to tell you if an item is in-stock. There is no need to go to the website to check.
When you tab on a link to buy the item, you will be taken directly to the checkout page. No need to then try and find the item on a website.
Next are Pinterest shopping recommendations.
When you are browsing women's fashion and home decor Pins, you will see a section of similar styles that you can shop from.
In addition, Pinterest is adding another new shortcut to help you shop on Pinterest from your feed.
You can "hold down on any home or style pin and click the shopping tag to immediately dive into a shopping feed with in-stock and related products from that pin."
Why Shopping On Pinterest Matters For Your Business
The new tools to shop on Pinterest are very important. According to Pinterest, since testing these new features, "clicks on products to retail sites have increased by 40%."
What this means for your business is that you should consider making sure your content is Pinterest friendly.
One tool we suggest you use on your website is Social Warfare, which will let you designate an image to show each time someone pins your site on Pinterest. You can also add a custom description too.

Tools
In addition to sharing the latest news from this past week, we also highlighted some great social media tools and apps for you to check out.
Shortcuts App By Apple
The first tool that we have discovered this week is Shortcuts (iOS).
Shortcuts is a mobile app from Apple.
With the Shortcuts app, you can automate many tasks for your business.
For example, you can create a shortcut to download a YouTube video with just the press of a button.
The Shortcuts app can also help you resize images from your mobile device, turn photos into an animated GIF, port to Instagram and more - all with just the tap of a button.
Here is what the Shortcuts app looks like.
These are just a few of the shortcuts you can create. If you want to make your own, you can do that as well using a drag-and-drop interface.
The Shortcuts app is an iOS only app. You can download it for free from the following link.
Create shortcuts to save your business timeBestPhotos
The second tool that we have for you this week is BestPhotos (web).
Do you take a lot of photos to share on your social media channels?
Often times, we take too many photos - ones that we don't necessarily need.
This can cause you to buy mobile devices with more storage than you actually need - it may just be taken up by duplicate photos.
With BestPhotos, you can quickly remove duplicate photos or extra ones without the need to go through each and every photo in your camera roll.
BestPhotos is available as a free download. You can get it using the following link. Eliminate duplicate photos
