24 Mar Social Chatter Episode 28: Instagram Rolls Out Desktop Notifications Christian Karasiewicz | Blab for business, Blab for Cooking, Facebook Topics, Gravity Forms, IF by IFTTT, IFTTT, Instagram Desktop Notifications, Nom, Sharing media and links on Blab, Social media news, Social Warfare, Syed Balkhi, Twitter Stickers, Wordpress Contact Forms, WPForms | Blab, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Social Chatter, Social Media Marketing, Tools, Twitter | 224 ShareTweetSharePinBufferWhatsAppEmail1 SharesWelcome to this week’s episode of Social Chatter where we cover the latest social media news from this past week. Each episode of Social Chatter is available as a blog post or video. Let’s see what’s cooking in social media this week with your hosts, Christian Karasiewicz and Vincent Orleck! Watch This Week’s Social Media Updates Facebook Testing Facebook Topics Facebook is testing a feature to let users converse around topics and themes. This is what Facebook Topics look like in your news feed. Once rolled out, when you click on a topic inside of Facebook, you'll be able to select from a list of other topics and themes. This feature should allow for people to be able to assign a topic tag to posts and control who can join the conversation using Facebook privacy settings. Twitter Stickers: A New Way to Add Images to Photos Also talked about this week is a new way to add images to photos on Twitter. By adding Twitter stickers, this should allow Twitter to compete more with Snapchat and Facebook who recently purchased Masquerade. Both services give users the ability to add stickers and other visuals to their snaps and posts. Easily Share Images and Media on Blab Also this week was an announcement from Blab. They've changed how you can share links when you're hosting your own show. If you want to share a link to a blog post, Facebook post, tweet or YouTube video, all you have to do is paste in a link during your show and it will show up for all of your viewers. If you're sharing a video, it expands to play while you're running your Blab. Blab is already a very useful tool for businesses. Now, you can hold your own Blab and have them center around other content you have already created, such as a video walk-through, Facebook Page post and more! Instagram Desktop Notifications Another announcement this week was by Instagram. They've announced notifications for Instagram desktop users. While you still can't upload photos and videos to Instagram from a computer, you can at least now get notified. To see Instagram desktop notifications, simply login to Instagram. You'll now see notifications when you're working on your desktop. While not a major update, this makes it easier to continue to focus on the work you're doing without constantly interruptions from your mobile device. Tools In addition to sharing the latest in social media news from this past week, we also highlighted some great tools and apps to check out. WPForms When building out your blog, it is important to have a good contact form.. Not only can your readers message you, but you can also use it to collect other information from them, such as having a specific form for submitting guest posts. Unfortunately, adding this yourself can take a lot of time because they can be complicated to build. As a business owner, you can set one up using WPForms in just minutes. This way you won't spend all of your time building your website. Instead, you can focus on the needs of your customers instead. WPForms starts at just $39 per year. If you're looking for something that integrates with Aweber and other email marketing services, we like Gravity Forms. Try WPForms IFTTT Another tool we really like using is IFTTT. IFTTT is amazing. It let's you build complex tasks and will then run them for you automatically. For example, you can have IFTTT save Facebook photos to Dropbox.Try it out. That's just one example, but there are thousands of other ways to use IFTTT. Another way to use IFTTT is to use IF by IFTTT. With IF by IFTTT, you can create simple connections between apps like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and more and then run them from your mobile device. Download IF by IFTTT Nom The last tool we wanted to share this week is Nom. Nom is similar to Blab in that you can watch live and interactive cooking shows. You can also choose to host your own if you like. This is yet another way for you to be social and to build deeper relationships with others. Download Nom Wrap-up That’s it for this week’s episode of Social Chatter. Be sure to tune-in to our next episode on Blab to find out what’s cooking in social media! If you have any questions about anything mentioned this week, share them with us on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or in the comments below. creativeslink 24 Mar 2016 Facebook has such awesome reach that using a branded hashtag on Facebook posts can teach your following to recognize and create using the hashtag. I encourage my accounts to use them on Facebook.

The Social Architect 24 Mar 2016 As a business, you’ll only put out pics that are ad types -vs- most traction only works for “funny” pics
Social Chefs 24 Mar 2016 @CoryHolliman true. It makes me think they could offer this to businesses looking to inject some creativity into their brand.
Kelly Cavanaugh 24 Mar 2016 I put a sticker on a photo once as another way to show that I was the creator of the photo.
The Social Architect 24 Mar 2016 so when your playing the video is the sound coming through the presenters mic as well? if so that might cause major feed back
The Social Architect 24 Mar 2016 I think playing a video is going to kill the feed if you get like 100+ on the live cast
Women's Basketball Daily 24 Mar 2016 it’s a real RAM-eater on my home machine…with a drop in running long term…
The Social Architect 24 Mar 2016 joelcomm feed yesterday only had 862 people on without video and major delay and people were dropping off

Dustin W. Stout 24 Mar 2016 I’d rather build out a form and use a shortcode any time I want to add it to a page.
Dustin W. Stout 24 Mar 2016 build once (quickly) and use over and over with a simple shortcode makes my life SOOOO much easier.
