Events From Facebook
In Facebook news, they have launched an app called Events from Facebook.
According to Facebook, Events from Facebook is a "new app we designed for event seekers who are passionate about keeping up with nearby events and finding things to do with their friends. Whether you’re looking for something to attend this weekend or just wondering what’s happening in your area, Events will help get you there."
With Events from Facebook, you "can quickly catch up on new events your friends are interested in, recently-announced events by the Pages you like, and updates from events you’re already connected to."
Events from Facebook is currently available for iOS and will be available for Android in the near future.
Why Events from Facebook Matters
If you're a business, you will want to begin posting events to your Facebook Page. If you are having a difficult time getting customers to see your posts, by sharing events on your page and encouraging customers to install the Events from Facebook app, you can stay top-of-mind with customers when you update your event as they will get notified about it.

Facebook Ads In Groups
This week, it was reported that Facebook was testing Facebook Ads in Facebook Groups.
They had this to say about ads in groups
“We have started to test delivering ads to people in Facebook Groups, and will be evaluating the response before determining how we will move forward,” Facebook told TechCrunch in a statement. The ads will look the same as News Feed ads. They’ll be targeted by Group topic as well as the standard identity-based targeting.
Why Ads in Groups Matters
"Facebook says it will reach maximum News Feed ad load in mid-2017, which means it needs new revenue streams to continue its revenue growth momentum that’s been going strong for years."
By tapping into Facebook Groups, this will allow Facebook to define another revenue stream. Businesses will be able to further target their audience with Facebook Ads.
Consider this - run Facebook Ads for Facebook Page content to a set of group members who are your best customers.
This should help you find additional avenues to reach your best customers (and those interested in your services).
Facebook Campaign Planner for Business Manager
Do you use Facebook Business Manager (link)?
Facebook has launched a campaign planning tool for business manager users.
Why Facebook Campaign Planner Matters
With Facebook Campaign Planner, this tool enables brands to plan out their Facebook Ad campaigns.
Businesses can also use this tool to help predict reach and frequency.
The campaign planning tool also let's a business share this information with clients and co-workers using a link or email.

Facebook VR Emoji
Also this week, Facebook announced "VR emoji."
With Facebook VR emoji, they let you "make an emotional point, you stick an emoji on there. We lose tone and physical cues when we text, so emojis emerged to clarify what you really mean. Otherwise, the recipient won’t know whether you’re excited or worried when you say “oh my.”
Why Facebook VR Emoji Matters
Facebook VR emoji are a "next step" from Facebook. As a business, think about how many times you've sent a text to an employee, only to have it misconstrued.
While VR emoji won't be available today, you can start thinking about creative ways to use emoji in your businesses marketing.
Stream Facebook to Apple TV and Chromecast
One last piece of social media news this week comes from Facebook.
According to Facebook, "we’re focused on creating video experiences that people want, and we’ve heard that people want different options for how and where they watch videos that they discover on Facebook. To give you even more ways to watch, we’re excited to roll out the ability to stream videos from Facebook to your TV — through devices like Apple TV or Google Chromecast — so you have the option to enjoy your favorite videos on a bigger screen."
To begin streaming videos from Facebook to your Apple TV or Google Chromecast follow these instructions.
- Find a video you want to watch on your phone or desktop and press the TV symbol in the top right corner.
- Select the device you want the video to stream to.
- Enjoy the video right from your TV.
It is important to note that while you are watching a Facebook video on your TV, you can still go back and scroll through News Feed on the device you’re streaming from, so you can catch up on other stories while your video keeps playing on the TV. Or you can find more videos to watch by choosing a new one from places like News Feed or your Saved tab. And if you’re streaming a Facebook Live video to your TV, you can see real-time reactions and comments on the screen, and you can join in the conversation yourself by reacting or commenting.
Here is a short video showing you how to stream Facebook to your television.
