Social Chatter: Social Media Marketing Talk Show - Episode 340 YouTube Live Redirects, Seamlessly Move Between Live Streams and Creator Content This week, we're taking a look at YouTube Live Redirects. Live Redirects can be used to redirect viewers to other creators' live streams and Premieres when yours ends. If you're a Twitch streamer, they may seem familiar, because they closely model Twitch Raids. To use Live Redirect, first create a live stream on YouTube. Next, edit the video and under Customization, look for "Redirect". You can choose a Premiere or search for another channel's live stream. When your live stream has ended, there will be a confirmation to let viewers know they will be redirected. Here's a look at YouTube Live Redirects. In order to activate Live Redirects, you'll need 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guideline strikes. If you are subscribed to a YouTube channel, you'll see the option to set up live redirects to a channel; however, the channel can set their channel subscriptions to private under YouTube Studio > Settings > Community, and uncheck the option to allow redirects from channels you are subscribed to. Creators: Live Redirect is here! Help each other grow by redirecting ➡️ your viewers to other creators' live streams & Premieres as soon as yours ends. While you have to have 1,000 subscribers to activate live redirects, they can be a valuable way to help Creators grow. Don't forget, to redirect to another channel's live stream, the channel needs to give permission from YouTube Studio. If you've been building relationships with other Creators, YouTube Live Redirects is a feature you should strive to activate and work on using. They can be a great way to build your channel and audience, and collaborate with others in new and exciting ways. Here are the tips that he shared. You work with many coaches and solopreneurs, what are key principles that they should use to start to tell their story? We are our brand and our brand is us. There are 6 essential elements to storytelling. A relatable character Specific details and problems in those worlds Goldilocks emotion. Genuine and authentic emotion. Complications. Something that goes wrong. A brief moment of significant change. What was the results of fixing a complication? A lesson learned. What did we learn and how do we tie it to our business? Keep in mind that storytelling helps encourage people to want to be part of your community, so embrace it when creating content. How do you do a competitor analysis? Ideally, you want to identify a minimum of 5 competitors. From there, look at which social media channels a competitor is using. How are they performing on those platforms? If they appear to be successful, are you also on those channels? Remember, your competitors are likely serving the same audience, so you want to be sure you are in alignment with them, but not necessarily copying the content they are sharing. Just like with a social media audit, if things don't seem to be working or you're not getting enough traction, it's time to do a competitor analysis. What LinkedIn tools can these businesses of one use to build community? And how can they measure success beyond the vanity metrics? Be yourself. You don’t necessarily need a lot of tools. Experiment with different forms of content to see what your audience engages with. For people who want to improve their personal story, what are three things that they can do this week to frame their writing? Any tips for overcoming the fear of self-promotion? Self-promotion comes through your storytelling. Be transparent. Talk about the good and the bad, and how you overcame it. Don’t be afraid to give away your knowledge. Show your value and worth. They’re self-promotion in itself. Wrap-up To sum it up this week, we discussed YouTube Live Redirects, a way to seamlessly move between live streams and other creator content.
