We will also take a look at the following social media news topics. LinkedIn is making changes to LinkedIn Live streams. If you've been using automation tools on LinkedIn, it's time to stop. Anyone can now join Clubhouse. Twitter is a Super Followers tab. New tool: Google Merchant Center, list items for sale on Google for free. You can also read, watch or listen to Social Chatter on our blog, YouTube channel or Alexa Flash Briefing. If you missed our last episode of our social media marketing talk show, we discussed YouTube Super Thanks. Let's see what's new in social media this week with, Christian Karasiewicz and Sara Munro. Social Chatter: Social Media Marketing Talk Show - Episode 302 YouTube Live Shopping, More Ways to Sell On Google and Online This week, we have YouTube Live Shopping. This feature was previously only available to beta-testers. Now YouTube is rolling live shopping out to a host of their Creators. According to YouTube, livestreams for creators and brands will get this on their channel. Here's a look at live shopping from videos. pic.twitter.com/j0o7eSllfI— Social Chefs (@socialchefs) July 30, 2021 In addition to shopping from videos, Google is also making it easier for shoppers to find deals directly in Google search. They're going to showcase deals in the shopping tab on Google. This way you can immediately find the best price, rather than have to visit multiple websites. Think about having to visit multiple stores because an item was out of stock. This could eliminate having to do this on the web. Here is a look at deals on Google. #YouTube is working on #liveshopping. It's currently being tested with a number of Creators, but here's an idea on how it works.https://t.co/nQoCyhzMiD#SocialChatter #SocialMedia #SocialMediaNews #YouTubeNews pic.twitter.com/hJoWdBPzve— Social Chefs (@socialchefs) July 28, 2021 In addition, starting in October, Google is going to start to let you discover the most popular deals for major retail sales moments. Think Black Friday and Cyber Monday. You'll be able to access all of this information from Google search, instead of having to visit multiple websites to see who has the lowest price and availability. If a lot of this sounds familiar, it may be because Amazon already does something similar with Amazon Live, a way for you to shop from Amazon product pages. Google is essentially adding a layer. Not only will you be able to shop from a Google search, but if one of your favorite YouTube Creators has a product, we suspect that YouTube Live Shopping results will also show up, just like YouTube videos do now. YouTube has begun to rollout Live Shopping to a number of their Creators. We anticipate it will officially launch before October. This way you can take advantage of it in time for Black Friday, Cyber Monday and the holiday shopping season. Why YouTube Live Shopping Matters For Your Business Imaging being YouTube Live Shopping? This is going to be a game-changer for your business. Granted, you would need to have physical products available to sell. Fortunately, you don't have to maintain a lot of inventory. For example, you could create the products and drop ship them. This way you won't have to have all of the physical inventory. You could then list them on Google using their Merchant Center. This would also help your products show up in the Google Shopping tab, and help lead to more sales for your business. One last key takeaway is that even if you sell online courses, one-on-one coaching, etc, you could have a handful of physical products listed. In your packaging, you could include a link to your website. This would be a way to then drive additional sales of digital products, online courses, and so forth. Overall, we're really excited about this foray into live shopping on YouTube and Google and hope you are too. Other Social Media News Mentioned Here are some additional social media news topics that we covered on our weekly live social media marketing talk show that are worth checking out. LinkedIn is updating LinkedIn Live, for easier scheduling and much more. You can no longer use 80+ automation tools on LinkedIn. Anyone can now sign-up for Clubhouse, because it's out of beta. Twitter is testing a Super Followers tab for your supporters. Tool of the Week Google Merchant Center This week, we talked about Google Merchant Center. Google Merchant Center "lets you manage how your in-store and online product inventory appears on Google." When you list your products in Merchant Center, you can reach more customers, drive sales, and measure the impact of your sales to adjust your inventory and product offerings. If you're using YouTube Live Shopping or want products to appear in Google, you can use Merchant Center to help list your products for sale. Merchant Center is free to sign-up for. List your products on Google Wrap-up To sum it up this week, we discussed YouTube Live Shopping. With Live Shopping, you'll be able to watch videos and shop directly from them, when they're released to more YouTube Creators. In addition, Google announced enhancements to deals and important shopping events. You can add your products using the Google Merchant Center tool.
